If you’ve come here from Instagram, you’ll probably have a little bit of an idea why I’m giving this a go. Hey, I might be terrible at it, or I might take over the world and be the next big thing in the blogging world.. Haha. Wishful thinking. But as I often say “Pearls don’t lie on the seashore, if you want one, you must dive for it”

Sand and Seagulls will be five years old this summer. I created this business after the birth of my first child in 2012, and I’ve never looked back.

I spent three years at university, studying Marketing Management and started a career in Marketing. I have a student loan I’m not sure I’ll ever pay off.

All of that has to be worth something right? I couldn’t leave my working life at the door when I walked out of Liverpool Victoria 8 months pregnant in January 2015 with Felix, never to return. I love being a Mummy, it’s the best job in the world. But I wanted to do something with my life that’s not just being a Mummy. I want my boys to be proud of me, and create something I can say “Hey; I did that”.

My mental health isn’t great; I know I often work too hard, do too much and put too much pressure on myself. But, I recognize my limits and always make sure there’s time for a glass of wine before bed!my boys rudy and felix playing on the beach

Working from home can be lonely, I’m very rarely alone as I have my three boys and Dolly the Pug here; there’s always someone here with me. But I don’t have the adult conversation, the office banter, the coffee break gossips. And I do miss that. Hey; I don’t even have a Christmas party! So I guess this is my way of chatting to my non-existent work colleagues. But in fact, I’m talking to you – my customers; my online friends of whom I’ll probably never meet; the real life friends who don’t really know what I do at home all day – (“She makes jewellery I think”); the people who have supported me but never bought anything from me; I love you guys.

And, the newbies who I don’t know yet.

Everything I plan to write will be related somehow to the seaside, my love of the coast and all things nautical. I’m dedicated to Sand and Seagulls, I live it and breathe it everyday, and even have an anchor tattoo!

So, thank-you for being here.
